Me (when I had hair) and my incredible husband. Little did we know when this was taken what we were about to face!

All about me…. well, some about me

I woke up out of a sound sleep at 2:48 a.m. on that August 2007 morning and thought to myself, “I need to do a breast exam”. Well, anyone that knows me knows it takes a herd of charging buffalo to wake me up in the middle of my cherished sleep and I am certainly not prone to doing breast exams at that hour.

There I was in the pitch black of our bedroom, lying next to my snoozing hubby and my yellow lab Henry, performing the annoying task. OH, bummer, that’s why I needed to do this. There’s a scary lump in my right breast. I’d examined enough dogs and cats with lumps in my 17 years as a veterinarian, I knew that lump wasn’t supposed to be there. Gulp. Maybe it would be gone by 7 a.m. Guess what? It wasn’t.

Little did I know I was just heading out of the starting gate on the roller coaster ride of my life. I did not feel like throwing my hands high in the air and letting out a big “Wahoooooooo”.
